KDE Connect Remote Comands for Mac

Image
If you have an iPhone with a Mac, you are probably pretty used to having connectivity between your Phone, iPad and Mac. If you have a windows device, you can connect you r Phone via  Your Phone Companion - Link to Windows , and it's a similar story if you have a Chromebook and an android device.  But what if you have a Mac and an android device? This is where you can use KDE connect. It's a two-part install: 1) Install the  desktop app  (Still in early release for Mac). 2) Install the  companion app on your Android device. You can read more about what  KDE connect  is and how you can use it on the site's main page.  Anyway, this is not a guide on how to get set up using KDE connect. Instead, I wanted to record some of the remote commands you can run from your Phone on your Mac; the default commands currently in KDE Connect do not work as they are the standard Linux commands.  So here is a set of commands that work in KDE connect on the Mac....

NerdVision in July 2020

So this is just a quick personal post - about the product NerdVision. So in May 2020, I shifted my focus from the general focus of Intergral onto the product NerdVision ; while I have had input from the inception of NerdVision, it hadn’t been my sole focus.  Since May the Team has done a fantastic job, we have brought out support for several new technologies, and we have experimented with different approaches to things; some have been a great success and some a little more complicated. These last 3 months have, in many ways, been made more difficult by COVID-19. But in other ways, it has made things easier, especially from a meeting perspective.  So what is some of the progress has the team made so far?  Launched the new website and a new UI with support for lite and dark themes https://www.nerd.vision/ Support for Dynamic logging https://www.nerd.vision/post/change-log-messages-without-restart Support For Adobe ColdFusion https://www.nerd.vision/post/nerd-vision-now-supp...

Bulk managing passwords in Google / Chrome

Image
Over a period of time you will collect many passwords and accounts inside google chrome if you use chrome to manage your passwords. At some point you may wish to remove all these passwords or atleast clean up a large number of them. Dealing with them inside chrome or passwords.google.com can be a longwinded pain if you want to 50+ passwords. It may not be obvious but you can bulk manage passwords in chrome /google quickly and easily at-least you can at the time of writing using chrome 78. Right so before we get started we should make sure that we will be able to re-import the passwords back into chrome once we are done. 1) go to chrome://flags and search for ‘import’ and then make ‘Password import ‘ set to enabled. ) 2) You will now get a prompt to relaunch google chrome, relaunch 3) Now make your way back to chrome://settings/passwords and you will now see the option to import where export once was. If you want to check import works first, do this now. Bulk Managing passwords into Chr...

Creating Chrome Shortcuts on Mac

Image
So Normally If you want to create a shortcut in Chrome you go to Settings>More tools> Create Shortcut on the site you want and then you will have the apps shortcut but sometimes the site does not seem to have a favicon that is 128x128 pixels and ends up being all distorted. This is definitely the case for many of the Gsuite screens like the Apps page or the Admin page. As you can see below its horrible! Anyway do not worry you can quickly sort it be creating your own Chrome extension. Following the official google guide you only need to do parts 1 and 2, downloading the example manifest.json file and editing it as needed with the right links and name. Then all you need to do is install it in chrome and your good! I did this locally just for myself but as a Gsuite admin you can also give this to your organisation with a number of apps. See here for examples then all you need todo is upload and install in chrome and you can have your chrome shortcut with the right logo. ...
